Atty. Antonio Enrile-Inton, Jr.
Majority Floor Leader, Quezon City Council
Councilor, Fourth District of Quezon City
A lawyer can be a good lawmaker and a lawmaker in the government is certainly a public servant. Public service does not only appear in many faces, though it comes in many forms and occurs anytime of the day without necessarily choosing people to serve.
The youthful Antonio “Ariel” Enrile-Inton, Jr. aptly fits to a “T” as a lawyer, a lawmaker and a public servant combined altogether. He is a human rights lawyer who had a hard-climb to the Quezon City Council (now
three-termer) having no surmountable funds to survive in the three elections. But the constituents of the city’s fourth district loved him so well that they elected him to the number one slot among the experienced and moneyed hopefuls.
As a lawmaker, the Councilor Ariel Inton had introduced countless measures to the council that had been passed into laws. Among them are: the banning of the buy-and-sell of second-hand cellular phones to avert snatching, the smoking ban and no-cellular phones usage at gas stations while refueling vehicles, the sustainable groundwater utilization ordinance, the anti-piracy reinforcement measures protecting Intellectual Property Rights of individuals recently signed into ordinance by Mayor Sonny Belmonte, the withdrawal of the jeepney operators’ demand for a P9 minimum fare, the unauthorized cable connection law, the prevention of the sale of the Tatalon Estate that would have displaced hundreds of families, and the introduction of Quezon City Sagip-Buhay Card to avail of free medical services and facilities at St. Luke’s Medical Center.
In the City Council, the indefatigable Councilor Inton was tasked to lead the Council as the Majority Floor Leader for four (4) consecutive years. He was recently conferred as a
Hall of Fame Awardee by the Quezon City Press Corps for having been chosen as the
Outstanding Councilor of Quezon City for three (3) years in a row.
Because of his utmost dedication to exemplary public service he fulfilled his duty both as city councilor and a public servant, thus receiving multifarious awards, recognitions and appreciations from different civic and religious organizations.
