Quezon City Majority Floor Leader Antonio E. Inton, Jr. who was adjudged by various groups as Most Outstanding Councilor Awardee and was recently chosen as one of the TOP 10 Councilor of the Philippines has earned the distinction of having been unanimously voted by his peers to take the seat of Majority Floor Leader during his first term. 

His first term as a councilor was characterized by the approval by the city council of countless ordinances and resolutions for the good of Quezon City and its residents. He was also a recipient of numerous awards and citations from different civic entities.

Various programs and projects, ranging from medical, sports, technology and infrastructure to environment that benefited 38 barangays in his district were likewise achieved during his term. 

Atty. Ariel Inton has been in public office as councilor for three consecutive terms, winning elections despite limited funds. Dearly loved by his constituents in the city’s fourth district, he hit the top in the last election despite the presence of experienced and moneyed hopefuls.

His acumen shines not only in the multi-faceted programs and projects he has initiated and implemented for the benefit of the poor, but also in the council where he has authored numerous measures that served the interest of both the underprivileged and the business community.  

Among them are: the banning of the buy-and-sell of second-hand cellular phones to avert snatching, the smoking ban and no-cellular phones usage at gas stations while refueling vehicles, the sustainable groundwater utilization ordinance, the anti-piracy reinforcement measures protecting Intellectual Property Rights of individuals recently signed into ordinance by Mayor Sonny Belmonte, the withdrawal of the jeepney operators’ demand for a P9 minimum fare, the unauthorized cable connection law, the prevention of the sale of the Tatalon Estate that would have displaced hundreds of families, and the introduction of Quezon City Sagip-Buhay Card to avail of free medical services and facilities at St. Luke’s Medical Center.

This Lider ng Konseho, human rights lawyer is not in public office for nothing. He is academically equipped for service for having graduated with a degree of Master in Public Administration and Master in Business Administration. A mentor by heart for aspiring lawyers, he spent three years as a college professor at the National College of Business Administration (NCBA) prior to joining the city council.
